An automated integrated system for the cloning stage of cannabis

As the cannabis industry gets into the new year, the same old issues still need to be addressed. Consistency of the production has been indicated as one of the things that growers struggle the most with when entering into large-scale cannabis cultivation. However, this consistency problem does not start in the mere growing phase, but also in the previous stage: cloning, that is.

This is the reason why Netled has developed an automated system that exactly addresses the consistency issue directly in the cloning stage. “It is of the utmost importance to rely on stable and healthy starting plants, otherwise it can be quite difficult to ultimately ensure consistency in the crop,” Niko Kurumaa with Netled, explains.

Completely automated and integrated
According to Niko, this is the first system that can keep up such high productive standards. “You basically just put small cuttings, and then you can have production on a daily basis.” That’s because this system is completely automated with everything integrated, such as HVAC, lighting, and everything that can ensure a consistent cloning stage. “You can put new cuttings and harvest new clones every day. Bluntly put, it is a constant-flow production system,” Niko points out. “Once it gets started, it can produce clones regularly.”

Replicating growing recipes
On top of this, the system by Netled allows the grower to develop growing recipes that can thus be replicated over and over. “For instance, this additional integrated software allows growers to adjust the light intensity, the irrigation solutions, and keep track of that, so that they can replicate the same successful formula without fearing to miss any steps.

With this system, Niko explains that each layer of the system can be individually tuned and adjusted so that different varieties can be grown on them. “This was originally thought out to accommodate the needs of leafy green producers to grow different crop varieties in the same system. It has proven to be particularly useful to cannabis growers as well, as most of the times, they grow different cannabis strains within the same facility. With our system, it is possible to efficiently produce quality clones of different strains, thanks to the possibility to dial-in the recipes for every single layer in our system.”

As the cannabis industry keeps moving forward, Niko says that his mission is to empower growers with what they need to carry out a successful grow. “We have a clear technical roadmap, but let's get to that later on!," Niko concludes.

Netled will be exhibiting at the Lift & Co. Expo in Vancouver. You can visit the company and take a look at their systems and solutions at booth 701.
