Fort St. John council will consider zoning amendments next week that would allow a cannabis production facility to be built in the city.
Dark Tower Holdings is looking to rezone property at 8004 90 Street and build a 3,200-square-foot facility for cannabis production, processing, and packaging.
While the property is zoned for light industrial use, cannabis production is not currently allowed in any city zone.
The proposed facility is planned for "micro-cultivation", where the "cannabis will be produced, dried and stored in individual shipping containers, contained entirely within the building," city planner Ashley Murphey writes in a report to council. Each container would have its own filters and HVAC units for odour controls, according to the report.
