US (CA): Lawsuit filed against High Times over canceled Hemp Cup

Black Tie CBD has filed suit against High Times and its parent corporation over the cancelled Hemp Cup. The event which was to take place March 20-21 was cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

"In its press release, High Times made misleading statements regarding refunds for the event," the team with the company explains. "Sponsors and attendees were advised to contact their sales representative to obtain a refund. However, when they did, they were told that no refunds would be issued. Repeated efforts to amicably resolve the dispute were ignored by High Times and event promoter, Method Three Events. Black Tie, the primary sponsor of the event, has filed a lawsuit in federal court in Los Angeles to recover not only the fees paid for the event but additional costs and damages."

"This is yet another black mark for High Times which finds itself at the center of another dispute on the heels of its failed efforts earlier this year to acquire a cannabis dispensary based in San Francisco.  According to reports, High Times engaged in questionable and arguably fraudulent schemes aimed at raising cash to finance its foray into the cannabis market."
