Royal Brinkman focuses on legalised cannabis cultivation in the Netherlands

The Dutch government is expected to start the experiment ‘closed coffee shop chain’, also known as 'the cannabis experiment', at the beginning of 2021. Ten approved growers will be licensed to grow cannabis under strict conditions. This further opens the door for legalised cannabis cultivation in the Netherlands. Internationally, Royal Brinkman has been active as a specialist and supplier in legalised cannabis cultivation for about four years. With the upcoming cannabis experiment, Royal Brinkman is broadening its attention to the domestic market.

The Dutch horticultural sector has a leading position and has been actively involved in the development of cultivation locations, techniques and cultivation in the world from the very start of the legalisation of medicinal cannabis. This also applies to Royal Brinkman. Leo Lievaart, Commercial Manager Royal Brinkman International: "The legalisation process of recreational and medicinal cannabis cultivation has been underway worldwide for a number of years. We, as a knowledge partner and supplier, have also stepped into this process. And with success. The experience gained has enabled us to set up the digital platform Can-Hub. Can-Hub.com is a knowledge and product platform for the professional, legalised cannabis industry worldwide. Although the platform is internationally oriented, it is complemented by our own local Royal Brinkman product specialists, including in Australia, Canada, USA, Portugal and the United Kingdom".

Expansion Can-Hub team
With the start of the cannabis experiment in the Netherlands, Royal Brinkman expands the international Can-Hub team with two Dutch specialists, Sander Koole and Jordy Bok. Leo Lievaart: "This new industry requires specific attention and knowledge. That is why we are expanding the team. As a result, licensees in the Netherlands can count on local support throughout the entire process from the development of the cultivation location to the packaging of the harvested product. In addition to product specialisation, the team offers specific cannabis-related knowledge in the areas of climate and water management, integrated crop protection, dehumidification, hygiene and sustainability. This in all cultivation phases as we are now accustomed to in the cultivation of vegetables, flowers and potted plants".

Total supplier at the highest certification level
Royal Brinkman is active worldwide in the design, construction and installation of high-quality water and electrical installations and climate computer systems for all types of crops. Experience and expertise are combined with products, application equipment and technical installations. This is also the case in cannabis cultivation. Bas Brinkman, Manager Technique Royal Brinkman: "Cannabis cultivation is a complex crop, not easy to compare with any other crop. The expertise and experience we have built up with professional cannabis cultivation in other countries will enable us to support the growers selected by the Dutch government in a professional manner. We know what is going on worldwide and what is specifically needed for this crop. Together with our extensive network and partners, we can offer them our knowledge, products, technique and guidance at the highest certification level in the cannabis industry". #letsimprovetogether.

With the cannabis experiment, the door for the legalised cultivation of cannabis is now also opening further in the Netherlands. By granting ten licenses to approved growers to work in a controlled growing environment, Royal Brinkman has the opportunity to show its added value in this crop in its home market as well.
