Ridder’s new ecosystem, HortOS, will help horticulture businesses scale up, harness data to generate knowledge and be part of the digital transformation. "We want to give businesses even more control by enabling partnerships, unlocking data and sharing relevant, accurate information. The aim is to facilitate results-driven management for large-scale horticulture operations", the company shares in an announcement of the platform.
Ridder HortOS provides horticulture businesses with a centralized environment that they can use to collaborate and work towards shared goals. Not only does the platform give access to financial and operational data from multiple crops, greenhouses and locations, but it also transforms that data into actionable information and clear insights - so you can make the right decisions yourself, or have HortOS make them for you fully automatically. Whether it involves day-to-day greenhouse operations or long-term strategic decisions, HortOS enables the entire organization to work together to drive growth and profitability.
Open platform
The first smart modules for the HortOS platform from Ridder are already available. But HortOS also has plenty of scope for collaboration and linking up with third parties. The introduction of HortOS is the culmination of Ridder's vision for the autonomous greenhouse. As a supplier of total system solutions, Ridder aims to play a leading role in creating a fully automated and smart growing environment.
"But we also know all too well that collaborative innovation has an important role to play in making progress towards the autonomous greenhouse ecosystem. That’s why Ridder HortOS has been designed as an open platform that accommodates creative partnerships, with the aim of enabling a more sustainable, autonomous and profitable future for horticulture," says Sjaak Bakker, managing director at Ridder Growing Solutions.
First modules available now
"In tandem with the introduction of HortOS, we are also launching the first two modules. The strategic Manager Module gives owners of and investors in large-scale horticultural companies visibility and control of the most up-to-date financial performance at the level of individual crops, greenhouses, locations and the organization as a whole. The more crop-oriented Grower Module gives growers and greenhouse managers an insight into the status of their various locations, greenhouses and crops, and lets them know which adjustments and improvements they can make. It collects all the key data from the greenhouse and converts it into an aggregated overview that emphasizes collaboration and efficiency."
Collaboration for growth
An important feature of HortOS is improving results through collaboration and ensuring that the right data and information are available. "In HortOS, data from across the operation is presented in context. That makes it easy to see progress, make comparisons, monitor targets and make the changes that are necessary. It enables the various parts of the business to work together using a shared language. That includes all levels - from growers, greenhouse managers and supervisors to managers and owners working at the board level. Ridder HortOS allows everyone to work together on growth and efficiency."
