US (IL): Tax incentives proposed to aid Pekin cannabis growing, processing plant

The Pekin City Council is being asked to provide tax increment financing dollars to cover some of the costs to develop a $12.7 million cannabis growing and processing plant in the city.

Staff is recommending the elected leaders approve using up to $500,000 from the Southern Industrial Park TIF district to aid Riverway Craft Growers.

The company plans to create 50 or more full-time jobs, in addition to 50 or more union construction jobs, according to the city staff's report to the council.
