DryGair launches new indoor dehumidifier – DG-X

Efficient dehumidification allows growers to prevent all humidity-related diseases

Growing indoors has unique challenges. It’s often characterized by dense plant placement, powerful grow lights and other electrical equipment, all leading to large amounts of plant transpiration. A grow room dehumidifier needs to extract massive amounts of humidity under these conditions. That’s why DryGair has developed the new DG-X unit, specifically designed to fulfill indoor growers’ needs.

“DG-X’s powerful water extraction is perfect for indoor – removing 4.2 gallons/hour (16 liters/hour) under common indoor conditions of 80°F (27°C) and 60% relative humidity,” VP, Ziv Shaked explains. “The dehumidifier runs on only 4.5kW, making it extremely efficient.”

The new unit includes DryGair’s patented air distribution module, which circulates air 360° for maximum climate uniformity – ensuring the treated air reaches all plants. “The efficient dehumidification, unique air circulation and powerful 4,000 CFM fan (~6800 m3/hour), lets growers completely avoid condensation, preventing all humidity related diseases, like mildew or botrytis,” Shaked continues.

A Grow Room Dehumidifier That Fits Anywhere
Indoor grow rooms are crowded with both plants and machinery. Understanding that space is precious in these facilities, DryGair has designed the new unit to fit in any facility. “The unit is 39.7″ wide, 43.3″ deep, and 42.1″ high, plus approximately 12″ for the air distribution model,” he points out. “Anyway, the exact height is adjustable. To help growers maximize their space, DG-X was designed for versatility.”

The unit indeed comes equipped with a modular air distribution module, allowing growers to optimize the air distribution for either center or corner placement.

“The DG-X can be positioned in several ways too,” Shaked points out. “The standard unit comes with stands but can include wheels as well. You can also hang the DG-X or place it on a trolley, so it can fit in practically any growing space.”

DG-X Integrates with HVAC
HVAC systems are widely used in indoor grows to control temperature. But it’s an inefficient, and sometimes insufficient way to control humidity indoors. “DG-X is highly efficient at water extraction, ensuring a problem-free grow,” Shaked remarks. “Integrating a DG-X with your HVAC frees up the HVAC, letting it focus on its core operation – controlling the temperature, that is.”

According to DryGair, the combination of DG-X and HVAC provides several major benefits such as: no humidity issues, much less disease outbreaks, use of smaller HVAC systems with greater efficiency, energy savings of 50-60%, compared to HVAC alone, increased climate uniformity which provides larger, more uniform yields, and more stable HVAC operation.

DG-X Can Be Used in Small Greenhouses
While the new DG-X is designed for indoor grow rooms, it retains the same efficiency in small greenhouses as well.

“This is possible, due to the different desired conditions between indoor and greenhouses. Greenhouses tend to be both colder and more humid, leading to similar water extraction results,” Shaked concludes.
