US (MI): Big cannabis growing facility approved by Bay City Commission

Bay City’s East Side could soon be home to a large cannabis growing and processing operation.

The Bay City Commission approved an application during a virtual meeting on Monday, Dec. 21 for a provisional medical cannabis facilities license to Area Capital, LLC to operate a grower facility at 2 Johnson Court, contingent upon final inspection. The location is near Woodside Avenue.

Area Capital is listed as having a mailing address in Lathrup Village on the application.

According to the application submitted to the city, Area Capital paid a $30,000 application fee for six licenses in total - five class C grower licenses and one processor license. Each license carries with it a renewal fee each year in the amount of $5,000 each. A class C license allows a grower to have up to 1,500 plants per license.
