Chris Aiello said you’ve “got to really be careful” in opening up a cannabis establishment.
There’s a lot of application requirements under the permit ordinance approved by Port Huron voters in November, and Aiello said he and his partners with Ox Tail, Inc., submitted theirs earlier this week.
Wednesday marked the first of two deadlines for local cannabis permit applications with the city — the first being for medical facilities. Another application deadline comes in two weeks for adult-use establishments.
By Wednesday morning, City Clerk Cyndee Jonseck said her office had received seven applications for provisioning centers, one application for a class B grower and one for a processor. Under the city’s medicinal zoning, class B growers can cultivate up to 1,000 plants for medicinal provisioning centers and processors, which obtain and package cannabis.
