US (NJ): Denville-based facility to install air filtration 'to be a good neighbor'

Denville Town Council members and Mayor Thomas Andes discussed during the council's Feb 16 meeting the issue of odor emanating from TerrAscend, a facility that cultivates medical cannabis in neighboring Boonton Township. Denville residents have been complaining about a foul smell since the facility's establishment in the summer of 2020.

“With the assistance of Senator Tony Bucco, Denville Township was able to have...our third meeting on February 9 with New Jersey Department of Health and New Jersey Department of Environmental Officials,” said Andes.

“The most recent virtual meeting, which also included representatives from TerrAscend, [included] a presentation on cannabis plant growth and the improvements they are making to the facility in an attempt to manage the foul odor. TerrAscend explained the different air filtration systems they were in the process of installing and provided a commitment to remedy the situation and be a good neighbor to the residential propert[y] [owners] located nearby.”
