Cannabis business owners will pay a total of $8,850 annually for inspections, audits and license renewals under fees approved this week by the Oceanside City Council.
The city has issued a total of 22 licenses since it legalized medical marijuana manufacturing, distribution, cultivation and retail delivery businesses in 2018, according to a report presented to the council Wednesday.
Most of the license holders are still working on their applications for conditional use permits and other requirements needed to open, said Stefanie Cervantes, a senior planner for the city. So far, only 12 of the licensees have applied for the required conditional use permit.
Only one cannabis business, MedLeaf Delivery, has begun legal commercial operations in the city, Cervantes said.
The city added commercial cultivation of recreational marijuana to the list of permitted activities in June 2020, but so far all other business licenses are for medical marijuana only.
