US (MA): Norwell approves agreement with cannabis cultivation facility

A marijuana grow house on Cordwainer Drive is one step closer to becoming a reality after the Norwell Select Board approved a host community agreement on Wednesday night.

The five-year agreement will have Elevated Access, based in Hingham, pay Norwell 3 percent of its gross sales as a community impact fee.

During a June 2 meeting, Town Administrator Peter Morin said the percentage follows the model set by the Cannabis Control Commission, and it's only the percentage that pending legislation would mandate as the cap.

Morin said the issue had already been through a number of procedural challenges. "I do not want to spend one minute litigating the legitimacy of this agreement," he said.
