US (FL): Trulieve employees charged with stealing MMJ from Midway distribution facility

Two employees of Trulieve’s Midway distribution facility were arrested after Gadsden County investigators say they stole upwards of $135,000 in medical cannabis that was later recovered in nearby communities.

Marquis Brown and Sammy Carter were arrested Wednesday by the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office and taken to the county jail. Trulieve’s loss prevention officials alerted officials to the thefts.

GCSO Spokeswoman Lt. Anglie Holmes said 10,000 grams of cannabis was stolen. Of that, about 75% was recovered in Gadsden County, with the rest found in Leon County.

“Based on the investigative interviews and information received from both subjects, the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office was able to recover 100% of the 10,000 grams of medical cannabis and turned (it) back over to Trulieve,” Holmes wrote in an email.
