Due to the growing size of the company and the increasingly larger projects they are involved in, Havecon has decided to expand their management team. Hans van der Salm (48) will join the international greenhouse builder as COO as of August 2021. "The developments in the sector call for a solid organisation. With this expansion, we are preparing ourselves for further growth," says DGA Henk Verbakel.

After his studies at Erasmus University in Rotterdam, Hans van der Salm started his career at the Conclusion organisation & consultancy agency. Due to his affinity with technology, he made the switch to the Dutch aircraft manufacturer Fokker. For the past 13 years, he has been working at airline company KLM.
From now on he will use the knowledge and experience he gained at these companies to ensure the structured and organised growth of Havecon.
Growing sector
"Havecon is a major player in horticulture, but compared to companies like this we're just at the beginning," says Henk Verbakel. "It's no secret that greenhouse horticulture has grown considerably in recent years. The projects we work on are becoming larger and more complex. At the same time, the wishes and requirements of our customers are also becoming higher and more stringent. That calls for a stronger organisation.
Hans will focus on the operational and organisational side of Havecon's growth. The combination he brings to the table - a LEAN background, a Rotterdam approach and experience at Fokker / KLM - ensures a 'flying' start in any case. "The goal is to continue to deliver the best turnkey greenhouse projects together with Henk Verbakel and the driven team of Havecon / Voorwinden," says Hans.
