The Madison County Sheriff’s Office, along with numerous other state agencies, hosted a Hemp and CBD Awareness conference Monday, working to educate state officials on the types of hemp and CBD production, how they differ from marijuana, and the regulations regarding such growth.
The conference concluded with a tour of local hemp facility Hemp Hill Pharm, which is situated in an undisclosed rural area of Jackson, to offer more security to the growers.
“The conference was excellent,” said Madison County Sheriff John Mehr. “We had lots of feedback from across the state. This is actually the first time it’s ever been done in the state — we’ve been trying to do it for a couple of years, but it’s hard to pull everybody together. But we finally did it!”
Attendees and speakers included members of the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, as well as the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the TBI Lab, and local law enforcement.
