US (MI): Growers at old outlet mall ready for business

The lights at the first cannabis cultivation facility in the county will soon be lit. 

Michigan Grown Gardens, which is housed in a 12,000 square foot facility at the former outlet mall on LaPlaisance Road, will be the second cannabis business in Monroe County and the first in Monroe Charter Township to open.

And owners Mike Dabs and Joshua U’Ran, who have spent years pursuing opening the business, are excited to reap the benefits of their efforts. The facility recently passed its inspection by the state’s Marijuana Regulatory Agency, the last step needed before it can begin operating commercially.

“We’re at the mercy of the (MRA) — we fully follow what they say,” Dabs said. “… This is a legit, safe operation. This operation is highly regulated and very secure.”
