IT: Sardinian hemp growers protesting, a sit-in in Cagliari: "The law must change"

Too many seizures, a lack of clarity: "The law on the cultivation of hemp must change". This is the reason that prompted Sardinian farmers to organize a protest sit-in scheduled for Wednesday 10 November in Cagliari.

A group of growers met last Saturday in Tramatza and decided to take the initiative to organize the demonstration in the capital in front of the regional council. "We have made many requests regarding the Region and also at the national level, but they have remained unheard," explains Piero Manzanares, president of the Sardinia Cannabis cultural association. "So, we decided to give birth to the Sardinian hemp-growers movement that involves all farmers, traders, couriers, agronomists. We try to involve as many people as possible including the mayors of our countries, associations, and politicians", he says.

"We ask that the regional law be passed and if necessary modified. It has already been inactive for more than a year. There is a strong obstruction by some parties", he adds.
