US (NM): Cannabis ordinance ammended to include $500 fee for manufacturers' licenses

In Alamogordo, New Mexico, the cannabis ordinance was amended to include a $500 fee for cannabis manufacturers' licenses. The City Commission also removed terminology that would require public hearings for cannabis licenses, noting that the New Mexico Cannabis Control Division does not require public hearings for licensure. Neither does the New Mexico Cannabis Regulation Act include language barring or requiring counties and municipalities from imposing licensing fees.

The $500 manufacturer's license fee was determined by City of Alamogordo staff and would be in addition to the City business license. Alamogordo City Attorney Petria Bengoechea said the fee would be used to offset any impact on the City's infrastructure system, including water usage.

The City also imposed additional fees: $250 for a producer or grower license and $250 for a retailer/dispenser license. The fees do not include business registration fees.
