In Malaysia, the cultivation of hemp has started in Kedah. The hemp will be used for the market and for research.
Former minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said the Pakatan Harapan administration has previously approved a piece of land in Kedah to grow hemp for research purposes, which will now be taken into use for exactly that purpose. Deputy energy and natural resources minister Ali Biju: “The process is ongoing.”
Syed Saddiq highlighted the fact that many youths face mental health issues, such as bipolar disorder or anxiety. The use of medical cannabis could prove to be an alternative treatment to alleviate those struggles.
