Measurement of cannabinoids and terpenes in biomass by mid-Infrared spectroscopy

Cannabis growers need to do their own potency and terpene testing to know when to harvest, stay compliant, and optimize grows. According to Brian Smith, PhD, CEO & Chief Technical Officer of Big Sur Scientific, existing technology for this purpose is slow, expensive, and difficult to use. "Therefore, we have used mid-infrared spectroscopy to accurately measure cannabinoid and terpene profiles in dried, ground marijuana and hemp plant material. There is little sample preparation, the analyzer features push button operation so anyone can use it, the unit produces results in 2 minutes, and is field portable." How the analyzer is calibrated and validated is discussed in the video below, and peer reviewed accuracy data will be presented.
