"Phototoxic pesticides give cannabis producers a new route to differentiation"

IntraLight's new phototoxic pesticides prevent pests and pathogens without the use of chemical pesticides. IntraLight technology destroys the DNA of pests and pathogens, including small soft-bodied insects like thrips, mites, and aphids, and fungal infections like powdery mildew and botrytis. With their first offering aimed at CEA cannabis producers who specialize in the highest quality cultivation, IntraLight aims to provide growers access to a new level of production. By eliminating chemical pesticide residue, IntraLight claims growers can provide an entirely new offering for customers.

"Commoditization has increasingly been discussed in the cannabis industry. Most growers and grow operators see commoditization as the greatest threat to the industry," says IntraLight co-founder & CEO Simon Kepchar. "Over decades, as states and countries around the world legalize cannabis production, artificially high prohibition-era prices have been dropping drastically. As novelty and restricted distribution continue to fade and supply outpaces demand, most cannabis will become fully commoditized. Only producers who find and solidify their long-term differentiation model ahead of the competition will be able to demand non-commodity pricing. At IntraLight, we provide one of the most viable routes to long-term differentiation: no-residue, beyond organic production."

Simon explains that differentiation within the cannabis industry comes in a few forms. "Brand-based differentiation, where a brand figurehead has enough influence and followers to set themselves apart and drive traffic. Another approach is 'flavor-of-the-month genetics,' which some dispensaries and producers are constantly chasing. However, the differentiation route shown in recent years to develop truly long-lasting differentiation and customer loyalty is to produce only the purest, highest quality, cleanest cannabis," he says.

According to Simon, when growers shift to organic chemical pesticides or other less harsh crop protection methods to pursue a quality and sustainability route to differentiation, means that crop protection costs increase significantly. IntraLight brings their phototoxic pesticides to market to provide this differentiation channel at a cost even lower than traditional chemical pesticides. "Producers who switch to IntraLights are able to market their products as no-residue cannabis to drive increased traffic with the pull of providing a sustainably grown, clean smoking experience free of chemical residues."

"Earn your customers' long-term loyalty by switching to IntraLight ahead of the competition if your mission is to provide only the cleanest, most sustainable, highest quality no-residue cannabis available," Simon adds. "Stop spraying. Protect with light."
