Workers at another medical cannabis facility in south St. Louis county have filed a petition to hold a union election. Employees at Good Day Farm on Lindbergh filed a petition to hold a union election and be represented by UFCW Local 655 — the largest private sector local union in the state.
“As the cannabis industry grows in St. Louis, more and more workers are reaching out to us to find out about how a union can improve their workplace,” said Local 655 President David Cook. “These workers care about what they do, and they want their jobs to have the pay and benefits they deserve.” UFCW represents the overwhelming majority of union cannabis workers across the country as the industry continues to grow.
Drew Leon, a Good Day Farm employee who supports the effort to form a union, emphasized that cannabis workers are looking for real careers in the field. “I want to see cannabis become the career it should be,” Leon said. “My coworkers and I are ready to have our voice in the workplace.”
If successful, Good Day Farm will be the third St. Louis-area cannabis facility to join Local 655 since April of this year.
