The adult-use cannabis experiment is being postponed again. It is likely that legally produced adult-use cannabis will not be sold in 11 municipalities until 2024. This was announced by Minister Kuipers (Public Health).
The implementation of the cannabis experiment is "extremely complicated," according to Minister Kuipers. For example, it is difficult for growers who participate to arrange a location, obtain the necessary permits and open a bank account.
It is also important that the supply of cannabis is varied enough, that there is sufficient production, and that the product is always of good quality. Right now, according to Kuipers, this is not the case.
In Brabant, one grower does already produce legal cannabis. "That does not benefit anyone at all," Minister Kuipers said after the Council of Ministers meeting. "Not the grower, not the municipality, not the coffee shop owner, and not the customer either."
