"We have signed a student scholarship agreement and supplied our digital agronomy technology for educational purposes," says Celene Solis, Business Development Consultant at WayBeyond.
CEICKOR Centro Universitario, located in the horticultural region of Querétaro, Mexico, is a unique facility. The 8-hectare greenhouse grows conventional and organic tomatoes and is a research and training center at the same time. Data collection and data use are very important focus points.
"It's a way of realizing we're doing things right," the team says. "By using WayBeyond's integrated digital agronomy solution, which includes their wireless sensors, mobile app, and data platform, our growers get a better idea of how their crop is performing and if the strategy should be adjusted. This tech is also used by students for research purposes. Thanks to the user-friendly interface, it is very suitable for educational purposes as well."
Darryn Keiller, CEO of WayBeyond, says developing and educating new growers and nurturing agronomy talent is critical to the evolution of the farming practice. "In our new relationship, we will be working alongside the Ceickor teaching faculty to educate students on the application of data insights and digital methodology to improve crop management and productivity. Ultimately this leads to growers of the future being able to achieve consistently higher quality crops and more sustainable outcomes."
"Our thanks go to Felix Tarrats Camelia Lamadrid, and Alberto Carbajal Rodriguez. We look forward to working alongside you, your professors, and students to usher in the next generation of growers for Mexico and LATAM."
