IPM Shanghai 2023: It's good to be back

"It's good to be back!" That's what most of the exhibitors felt when entering the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, where the Hortiflorexpo IPM Shanghai kicked off today. As the first offline large-scale horticultural exhibition after the pandemic to take place in the region, it welcomed many exhibitors and visitors from home and abroad, although some still had to miss the show because of difficulties traveling.

Effects of the pandemic
The pandemic has drastically affected the collaboration between many international suppliers and Chinese companies. Because of the strict travel restrictions and long quarantine periods, many projects were postponed or even canceled. Also, many projects were delayed because of the pandemic's effect on the supply chain. At the beginning of this year, China reopened its borders to international visitors for the first time since it imposed travel restrictions in March 2020. The spirits were high, at least for those who could visit, since some people still had to cancel their visit because they were not granted a visa.

New varieties and new technologies are the focus of the show. The Chinese horticultural market is developing rapidly, and more and more projects are being built. How to better develop horticulture according to local conditions is everyone's concern.

Three days
The IPM lasts for three days, with Saturday seeing mainly consumers visit. There are three pavilions in the show; W1, which mainly focuses on exhibits of garden machinery, garden tools, fresh-cut flowers, floral materials, and the Dutch pavilion. W2, which has cutting-edge greenhouse technology and supporting equipment. And W3, where you can see seeds, seed balls, seedlings, gardening tools, fertilizers, pots, substrates, and other exhibits of various colors.
