Dima Chernobilsky, Grow Director:

“Growers can now turn any operation into a smart operation, with minimal investment”

Climate control is one of the biggest challenges that cannabis growers face. Therefore, the Israeli company Grow Director Ltd. has spent almost seven years of researching, developing, and testing new technologies to create an advanced and efficient climate control solution. “Our product was developed in response to feedback from growers who were looking for more precise control over climate balance in general, water quality for those who prefer hydroponic method of cultivation, as well as automatization, data storage, and in-depth analytics,” says Dima Chernobilsky, CEO of Grow Director.

The company has just launched the third generation: GrowDirector 3 PRO. “This is not just an intelligent climate control system for indoor and greenhouse horticulture, it is a comprehensive automation and data management solution designed to simplify growing and enhance operations, leading to reduced labor costs, time, and resource consumption, while improving yields and profits,” Dima explains. “The third generation product feature modular and scalable wireless controllers, advanced sensors, and intelligent algorithms that work together to create the optimal environment for cannabis plants to thrive.”

Solving challenges
According to Dima, there are many challenges cannabis growers run into when it comes to climate control. “For instance, cannabis plants require a specific temperature range to grow and thrive, and maintaining the optimal temperature can be challenging, especially in environments with extreme temperatures or seasonal changes. Also, cannabis plants are sensitive to humidity levels, when high humidity can lead to mold and mildew growth, and low humidity can cause plants to dry out and become susceptible to pests. Additionally, proper air circulation is crucial for regulating temperature and humidity levels, as well as ensuring that plants receive the necessary levels of carbon dioxide for photosynthesis. And this is just 1% of what growers face in their daily routines,” Dima says. “Last but not least, maintaining optimal climate can require significant resources like energy, water, and nutrients, which can be costly and environmentally unsustainable if not managed properly. Finally, regardless of whether you are a startup company or a well-established business, the cost of time and labor is a significant factor that cannot be ignored, especially if you are operating in the Western world.”

All these factors have been considered by Grow Director when developing the GrowDirector 3 PRO. “Our new product makes it possible for growers with minimal investment to turn any greenhouse or agricultural operation into a smart operation. It means that, on the one hand, it will become easier for growers to create a stable and consistent environment, which ultimately leads to higher yields and better-quality plants. On the other hand, their operations will require fewer resources, less time spent manually monitoring and adjusting climate parameters, less staff, and less expense while improving margins.”

“Using our solution, growers can easily automate and control pumps, electrical devices, dry contacts, individual or daisy chain LEDs - all up to 64,000, depending on the controller, as well as connect up to 64,000 sensors to receive and analyze valuable data about the climate. We do also provide sensors like pH, EC, temperature, CO2, and a free mobile application, through which growers can configure all automated routines, set customized working rules and notifications for critical parameter changes, and track performance over time with detailed data and analytics. Moreover, we have built-in AI-driven software that helps growers grow smart,” Dima explains.

Reduce costs, increase efficiency
As many North American growers are facing financial challenges due to market conditions, Dima says that the Grow Director products can help to reduce costs and increase efficiency. “These five elements can have a significant impact on their bottom line:”

  1. Decrease in labor costs. “You can manage any sized operation with the smallest workforce possible by automating the entire operation after connecting all equipment, devices, and sensors into one system with one control from anywhere, at any time. Also, the system is completely modular and scalable, so you can grow at your own right rate.”
  2. Decline of grower errors. “You can stay connected with your operation via the App, set notifications for critical parameter changes, ensuring prompt action when needed to maintain ideal growing conditions, knowing you are also supported by AI.”
  3. Increase in yields. “In addition to preventing grower errors, you can predict changes while having access to data history and comprehensive analytics to maintain the perfect climate balance with proactive and reactive incremental changes.”
  4. Reduced consumption. “Once you are empowered with precise usage data from pH, EC, CO2, and more sensors, you can leverage smart resource consumption.”
  5. Free software and cloud. “You do not need to pay extra money to keep your data safe and secure. Moreover, any data can be exported at any time to any means of storage.”

Besides helping North American growers, Grow Director is also hoping to expand more into the European cannabis market. “The European market represents a significant growth opportunity for our business, and like many other companies, since the very beginning of the establishment of Grow Director Ltd., we have been targeting the European market. We still have room to grow and are looking to expand into the European market even stronger with the GrowDirector 3 PRO family of products. We believe that our products can benefit the local growers, and we are excited to explore new opportunities in Europe, visiting key cannabis exhibitions and conferences, where we can meet new partners.”

Looking ahead, Grow Director has ambitious plans for the future. “First of all, as a company, we are committed to continued research and development since we recognize the importance of staying competitive and relevant in today's rapidly changing business landscape, and thus we are constantly exploring new technologies to improve the existing products. As such, we are actively seeking feedback from our customers to better serve them and offer the products they really need, products that can solve their problems. We do also actively listen to our employees and other stakeholders to help guide our strategic planning process. Our goal is to be the leading provider of climate control solutions for cannabis growers, and we are dedicated to achieving that goal,” Dima adds.
