Electric tractor easily does 47,500+ km

The Donkey electric tractors of Weterings are a household name in the market, and it turns out they can keep going, even with tens of thousands of kilometers on the counter. This Dutch company even presented a certificate to a local lily farm employee who drove many kilometers on his Donkey in recent years.

Rafal Wiktor Nawarowski has been driving on his Donkey for 16 years and drove 47.564 km. After all those kilometers of pulling Danish carts of potted lilies through the greenhouse, the Donkey is still going—reason enough for a certificate, cake, and a new electric tractor: the Donkey STU.

"We've given them a "stand" version of the regular Donkey model to try out," says Rob van den Berg, Weterings' co-owner. Though the nursery prefers the seated model, then, their staff can take an occasional break between all their hard labor.

"We developed the Donkey standi version in response to requests from customers who drive small distances," Nick Weterings, the company's other owner, reveals. "Then it's easier if you don't have to sit down and stand up every time. We've had good feedback on that new model, including at the trade show."
