US (NY): Saratoga Springs hosts cannabis farmers showcase amid state licensing controversy

This week, the cannabis industry took another step back. The state supreme court reversed an exemption for more than two dozen retail store applicants. Now, they continue to wait for the legal process to play out while New York's licensing process is reviewed regarding its constitutionality.

In the meantime, farmers' markets featuring cannabis are cropping up around the region. Local cannabis farmers have arrived in Spa City ready to showcase their products, and they are hoping Sunday's cannabis market can also be an opportunity to connect.

While long lines have left some frustrated at the showcase, with this being the first cannabis farmers showcase in Saratoga, Truifilo told me one of the reasons he organized the showcase is to provide those who are not one of the 23 licensed dispensaries operating in the state an opportunity to build their brand.

Farmers like Rick Weissman of High Falls Canna Co. tell me one of the greatest things about being here at the cannabis farmers market is the one-on-one interaction with customers.
