MJBizCon has kicked off

The biggest trade show in the cannabis industry has officially kicked off. On November 29, the Las Vegas Convention Center welcomed thousands of attendees. In fact, the organization is expecting over 30,000 cannabis entrepreneurs from around the world to attend this year.

Many attendees were noticing, however, that the event has decreased in size. The exhibitors were now in different, smaller hallways of the Convention Center than they were last year. Last year, there were quite some greenhouse construction companies and Dutch exhibitors, but these are now few and far between.

Yet those changes do not come as much of a surprise, as it's reflecting the state of the North American cannabis industry. It is no longer the industry it was 5 years ago, and many cannabis companies have been struggling these past years. Even when a new market opens up, like the recent adult-use legalization in Ohio, it does not necessarily mean lots of new projects will happen, as many of the medical growers will start supplying the adult-use market.

So, how are the exhibitors able to make it through the challenging market? We've heard several suggestions. First of all, focusing on not just cannabis, but other horticultural crops as well is something that several companies have been doing. Also, focusing on the high-quality producers, because while the market is tough, low quality is not going to cut it anymore. Strong companies with a consistent supply of high-quality products are the ones who will survive.

Despite the challenges in the market, MJBizCon is the biggest trade show in the industry, and many were excited to meet up again. Stay tuned for another update on the event tomorrow!
