Compact dehumidifier nominated for SIVAL Innovation Competition

The SIVAL Innovation Competition will be returning this upcoming January as a part of the SIVAL expo in Angers, France. One of the products highlighted in the competition is DryGair’s DG-X dehumidifier, designed for indoor cultivation and small greenhouses.

“The DG-X is considered innovative in comparison to traditional humidity control methods such as ventilation and heating,” the DryGair team explains. Compared to these techniques, it allows growers to close and insulate their space, gaining full control over their growing conditions while improving cultivation and even saving energy by reducing heating requirements, according to them. “It also provides an ideal solution for smaller spaces, including propagation houses and urban farming facilities,” the team points out. This dehumidifier is nominated for the innovation prize in the Machines and Automation category.

Breaking Down DryGair’s DG-X Dehumidifier
The DG-X is a dehumidifier that was created specifically to optimize growing conditions in indoor grow rooms. “It’s a highly compact and dynamic unit without compromising performance. But the real innovation is in its design conditions. The DG-X is designed to provide optimal efficiency and humidity reduction in the conditions most common in grow rooms – 26°C and 60% relative humidity.”

These conditions differ from common greenhouse conditions, which tend to be cooler and more humid. This is mostly due to the physics of indoor facilities, which are highly insulated and heavily lit with powerful grow lights.

A single DG-X (50Hz) unit, which is marketed in Europe, extracts 16 liters of moisture per hour using only 4.2kW. That’s an efficiency rate of 3.3 liters/kW.

“Like all DryGair dehumidification systems, the DG-X also comes equipped with a patented air circulation module that ensures uniform conditions throughout the space. Combined with its dehumidification capabilities, DG-X provides the ideal growing conditions to prevent diseases and stimulate optimal plant growth,” the team remarks.

SIVAL Innovation Competition
Ets Jolly, DryGair’s partner and distributor in France, will be presenting at SIVAL, including a display of a DG-X. Ets Jolly, established in 1966, is a horticulture equipment specialist supplying French growers with a wide range of products for greenhouses and nurseries.

SIVAL, the largest horticulture and agritech trade show in France, will take place in Angers on January 16-18. Find Ets Jolly in Hall B, B-C-45.
