Indiana lawmakers not moving cannabis reform forward in the interim session

This week, the Indiana Legislative Council announced which topics lawmakers would study leading up to the next legislation session.

Starting later this summer, Indiana lawmakers will split up into small groups to discuss issues surrounding education, health care costs and tax reform. However, cannabis reform, a hot-button issue due to the DEA reclassification announcement, didn't make the cut this year.

"That doesn't surprise me," Keith Johnson, a veteran and the Communications Director for Indiana NORML, said.

According to Johnson, the decision is a logical move due to the DEA's complicated reclassification process (which could still take several months).
