New World Horti Center to be built in Shandong, China

On Friday, May 24, World Horti Center signed an agreement with a Chinese partner to build a World Horti Center location in the province of Shandong in the foreseeable future. This will be a local hub for the more than 100, mostly Dutch, participants active in World Horti Center. Mayor of Westland, Bouke Arends and vice-mayor Li Guoxiang of Jinan witnessed this festive moment.

Second location outside the Netherlands
"The realization of a World Horti Center location is an important step for the Shandong province. With this realization, the region strengthens its position in the Chinese horticultural sector. Next to that the cooperation with Dutch parties is made easier. With the conclusion of this new contract, the opening of a second location outside the Netherlands becomes a reality for World Horti Center," the WHC team explains. At the beginning of 2023, the first overseas location was opened in South Korea. A World Horti Center office where the focus is mainly on education and research. Puck van Holsteijn, director of World Horti Center, on the second location: 'By signing this agreement, a second World Horti Center location outside the Netherlands is one step closer and we're further expanding our concept. We also make the connection with the Chinese business community easier for our more than 100 participating companies in the Netherlands. It doesn't stop there, we are also looking into expansion to other continents in the coming years'.
