US (OH): State opens non-MMJ license applications

The state of Ohio will be one step closer to the sale of recreational cannabis today when they open up their license applications to certain vendors.

According to the Ohio Department of Commerce, the first round of applications will only be open to dual-license applications for both medical and recreational distribution. They will also only be afforded to entities already in the Medical Marijuana Control Program.

The state's Division of Cannabis Control will later review and approve the submissions on a roughly case-by-case basis.

When will the general public be allowed to make their first cannabis purchases? According to a statement to 19 News, the Department of Commerce explained there's no date set in stone. Once the state begins to distribute licenses, it will be up to the retailer to decide when sales can begin.
