US (MI): Waterford cannabis licensee asks for more time

Waterford Township has three cannabis outlets open for business and has awarded licenses for three more.

One company, DNVK 1, has yet to open and has applied for a 2-year extension on demolition and construction of a medical cannabis provisioning center at 2460 Dixie Highway.

Township trustees granted an extension last October, stipulated that the site be construction-ready by Dec. 31, 2023, and completed by this month.

But DNVK hasn't been able to access the property. The Sherwood Motel has been operating as an apartment building and the owner "has encountered difficulties in lawfully and timely
vacating and evicting tenants," wrote DNVK co-founder Marvin Karana in his appeal for more time.
