US (NM): Residents worried about potential new neighbor - a cannabis business

Residents who live near a vacant parcel of land in Anthony, New Mexico, are worried that the land will possibly be used to operate a cannabis business.

The land's property owner is seeking a permit from Doña Ana County to operate the business, according to signs posted on the property located at 1240 Gardner Road.

Gilbert, a resident who lives near the parcel of land, said, "The lounge aspect of this situation is the only thing I don't think is a good idea. I'm not necessarily opposed to the consumption lounges, but in this area, it just doesn't seem like a good idea."

The sign states that the establishment would include space for retail, cultivation, and a cannabis consumption lounge.
