That's according to Kurt Harris, a board member of the Regulated Substances Authority, responsible for regulating the production and use of controlled substances on the island.

He made the remarks on Sunday, March 9, on the program NFTO - Reimaging Banana Plus, hosted by Eustace Monrose, president of the National Fair Trade Organization (NFTO).

"In the Bill, there is protection for the Rastafarian community. This community needs to have some level of protection under the law as well. We all know that the Rastafarians have been speaking for years about this plant and its benefit. They have been largely ignored by what they have been saying," Harris said.
