The City of Colorado Springs is continuing to issue permits for existing medical marijuana sales, cultivation and production facilities to enter the recreational sales market after Colorado Springs voters approved Question 300 in November 2024. Recreational sales in the city will begin after April 14. Among the medical facilities to have successfully completed the city's 60-day permitting review process, which began on February 10, is Native Roots, which operates four locations across the city, one traditional dispensary and three combination dispensaries and gas stations — dubbed Gas and Grass.
"We couldn't be more grateful to the people of Colorado Springs for making their voices heard," said Jon Boord, CEO of Native Roots. "The road to recreational legalization hasn't been easy, but this community believes in progress and in the benefits cannabis can bring. We're honored to serve and grow alongside this incredible city."
Question 300 allowed for only existing medical marijuana permit holders in the city eligibility to apply for recreational permits. The city has a total of 187 medical businesses that are eligible, 85 medical marijuana stores, 58 grow operations and 24 medical marijuana-infused product manufacturers.
