California based, Bell Coastal Labs, a cannabis testing laboratory, has had its license temporarily suspended by the California Department of Cannabis Control (DCC).
"This hit hard," said Myron Ronay, CEO of the lab, in a video interview. "We were not expecting it. We're fully cooperating with the state, but right now, everything is shut down - we can't test, we can't receive samples, and we can't release results."
The California Department of Cannabis Control has further alleged that the lab approved cannabis products for retail distribution despite test results indicating contamination.
As of Thursday, the DCC's public licensing portal listed the lab's status as "suspended," with the permit set to lapse on April 30.
"We know what this means for our clients, and we're doing everything we can to come back stronger and better," Nate added. "This is a moment of challenge, but also a chance to show the integrity and resilience our industry needs."
The regulatory notice does not make it clear whether BelCosta Laboratories has a direct or immediate path to resume operations, leaving the timeline for reinstatement uncertain.
