US (CT): New safety standards approved by committee

The General Assembly's Regulation Review Committee rejected two regulatory updates regarding cannabis on Tuesday, despite members being generally favorably disposed toward them.

"I don't want DCP (Department of Consumer Protection) to get discouraged, but we just have to make sure all the 'Is' are dotted and 'Ts' are crossed," Sen. John Kissel, R-Enfield, said.

Palliative Use of Marijuana (2025-019A), DCP's proposed revision to the medical marijuana regulations, aimed to streamline provisions in light of adult-use legalization. The committee rejected it without prejudice, meaning the department can make changes and refile.

The rule would have repealed overlapping sections and retained only palliative-use-specific language. Although previously revised after an April rejection, the committee asked for additional adjustments.
