US (VT): Restrictions making cannabis competitions tough to organize

Cannabis competitions may be possible in Vermont but current restrictions make it tough to put one together. Industry members were skeptical at a recent peer networking event hosted by the Vermont Cannabis Control Board on the subject.

"We're so far from this being a cool scene," Tito Bern of Bern Gallery in Burlington said. "It doesn't feel like we're there unfortunately."

Gabe Gilman, general counsel for the CCB, said the process of figuring out what will work requires conversation between parties about operating within the rules the state has now.

"This is a project that is going to proceed incrementally," he said. Much of the Vermont market should be a point of pride, Gilman said.
