US (NJ): First adult-use grower in Monmouth County hopes to shift the culture

The owners of first adult-use marijuana grow facility in Monmouth and Ocean counties believes the Garden State can be at the center of a cultural shift among the connoisseurs in the cannabis community.

Will Perry, chief operating officer and director of cultivation for Neptune's Garden, said that "obviously" California is still the mecca of cannabis, but there has been "a huge cultural shift back east" because of consumers in New Jersey and New York.

"There is really good core group of cannabis connoisseurs here, and people seem to be buying a lot," Perry said. "So that says something about the appetite of New Jersey cannabis, but more specifically for us, we have a higher-end product. There is a very big appetite for high-end cannabis."

Originally from the Bronx, Perry co-founded Magic Hour Cannabis in Oregon in 2019 before partnering with Virginia Papa-Horning, a Neptune resident, and her son Chris Horning to operate Neptune's Garden in a low-profile warehouse on Heck Avenue.
