GreenTech 2025 winds down: cannabis interest, industry optimism, and a dash of darts

As the last day of GreenTech 2025 gets underway, Amsterdam is trading in grey skies and train disruptions for sunshine and smoother logistics, a fitting wrap to a busy week for the global horticultural industry.

The trade show officially closes at 4 p.m. today, offering attendees a final chance to discover solutions to ongoing technical challenges, shake hands with that one elusive customer, or discuss long-term investment plans. Encouragingly, despite the headwinds facing the market, the general mood this year felt more optimistic than in recent editions.

Cannabis presence growing, quietly but surely
While GreenTech isn't a cannabis-focused event, the plant wasn't entirely absent. Cannabis-related technologies and growers were quietly but steadily present across the halls. The consensus? All eyes are still on Europe. While regulatory hurdles continue to slow progress, the sector remains hopeful, and active. Fewer new facilities are being launched, but the ones that are signal confidence and a more strategic, long-term outlook.

Notably, exhibitors reported strong interest from cannabis professionals looking beyond cultivation. Solutions covering the full value chain, from post-harvest to data and climate control, drew attention, underscoring how deeply cannabis has embedded itself within the broader horti sector. The feeling is mutual: cannabis growers are also turning more and more to innovations developed outside their niche, blending both worlds in practice. Compared to previous years, there were visibly more cannabis operators walking the floor—and yes, the occasional familiar scent confirmed their presence.

Tech, darts, and games: light moments on the floor
Trade shows are also about standing out. At Oerlemans Plastics, attendees could take on a professional darts player; over at Rovero, even Dirk van Duijvenbode, Van Onselen Aubergines employee, was left scratching his head thanks to an illusionist's tricks. Tech companies got in on the action too: Source.ag let visitors test their skills at an interactive climate control game, while 30MHz showcased their new AI Assistant.

Royal Brinkman had something to celebrate, because the company has been around for 140 years. The extra long evening opening of GreenTech Amsterdam on the Day of the Dutch Grower came in handy for this. On the second day of the fair, it was the ideal opportunity to catch up over a bite to eat and a drink.

With the final booths soon to be dismantled, it's time to pack up, recharge, and get ready to sort through the mountain of photos from the past few days. Keep an eye out—we'll be sharing all the highlights very soon.
