CAN: Snuneymoxq Nation close to completing on-reserve grow facility

With the support of the BC Indigenous Cannabis Business Fund, Snuneymuxw Nation is building a 13,000 square foot cannabis production facility that will generate long-term economic opportunities and high-quality employment for community members. This new development is not just about entering a regulated industry. It is about building sustainable revenue and ensuring more Nation members have access to meaningful careers.

Creating local jobs
Today, 90 percent of employees involved in the project are from Snuneymuxw. The facility will allow the Nation to grow cannabis and eventually develop its own edibles line. These initiatives are designed with a focus on self-determination, providing employment pathways that reflect community values while generating consistent income for future investments.

Building for the future
The new cannabis facility represents more than just a business. It is a way for Snuneymuxw to share its products across Canada, build economic independence, and create space for innovation and leadership within the Nation. As the building nears completion, the team is already planning how their products can reach stores nationwide. This effort brings visibility and pride to community-driven work.
