US (VT): Cannabis industry waiting before assessing impact of recent flooding

With flash flooding and heavy rainfall in parts of northern Vermont last week, damage assessments are underway in the cannabis industry. Geoffrey Pizzutillo, executive director of the Vermont Growers Association, said his group is aware of licensees experiencing damage and loss from recent storms. The VGA has not confirmed if any adult-use retailers have been affected.

"We are still in wait and see mode before concluding assessment on the industry," Pizzutillo said.

Storm reporting and assessment tends to take a couple of weeks "but we hope it is limited (or nonexistent)," Pizzutillo said. His group has provided assistance to affected businesses in the past.

"Thankfully we have not been hit by the most recent flooding," said Karen Devereux, co-owner of Vermont Kind and Kingdom Kind. "We've had some heavy rains on our crop, but thanks to careful work by our crew, our plants are able to withstand the wind and rain thus far."
