US (MI): Testing company closes Bay City location

One of the state's largest marijuana testing companies has agreed to close its Bay City location, surrender its Lansing licenses and cooperate with a permanent ban on its majority owners from the Michigan marijuana industry under a settlement finalized this week.

The state of Michigan announced the settlement in a Wednesday press release, nearly four years after first issuing a massive recall against marijuana products tested by pot testing giant Viridis.

The settlement requires the immediate revocation of licenses issued to Viridis' Lansing locations, the closure of its Bay City location by the end of September and the permanent ban of Viridis' majority owners Greg Michaud, Michele Glinn and Todd Welch from the marijuana industry in Michigan. The agreement also requires the dismissal of several civil lawsuits and complaints brought by Viridis.

Cannabis Regulatory Agency Executive Director Brian Hanna said the company showed a "sustained, deliberate pattern of noncompliance that shook confidence in the entire regulated cannabis system."
