Innexo, the Netherlands-based cannabis research organization, has officially announced the next generation of its Acceleration Platform for Innovation (API), for 2026-2027. Transforming the API from isolated R&D into a collective, demo-based industry ecosystem.
For the last 3 years, Innexo has successfully hosted the platform in an 'opt-in, opt-out' basis. However, in order to adapt to the rising demand in the industry for demonstration and visibility, the API will look different from 2026 onwards. In order to improve exposure, pricing and participation options, the next two years of the platform will be locked down and events are more focused on bridging the gap between industry leaders and (new) licensed producers in Europe and beyond.

The new version of the platform is structured around three tiers of participation: Innovators, Accelerators, and Platformers. Each tier provides unique access to dedicated greenhouse space, real-world validation, and curated networking opportunities with licensed producers. Innovators, for example, will receive five exclusive trials annually with full data access, direct LP introductions, and speaking slots at Innexo's Acceleration Days.
"Our goal is to create a living hub where technology providers, researchers, and cultivators can collaborate in a transparent, high-value way," says Dominique van Gruisen, CEO of Innexo. "Unlike traditional consortia, each innovator here runs their own trial. We provide the stage, the plants, and the direct line to LPs."

A key feature of the API is its quarterly Acceleration Day. "These are boutique networking events that take place inside Innexo's greenhouse," he explains. These events are highly exclusive and are designed to bring together 30-50 licensed producers with participating technology providers. "The difference is that it's not just another trade show or conference. It's networking with the plant itself, inside a working greenhouse, where innovations are happening in real-time."
According to Dominique, one of the industry's biggest challenges has been connecting with LPs in a meaningful way. "We want to change that. By curating these events and limiting access only to participants in the platform, we can guarantee quality interaction. The aim is to consistently have 30-50 LPs at each event."

The API financial model is designed to lower the barriers to entry while offering strong ROI. Companies can run dedicated greenhouse trials starting from €10,000 per cycle, while full Innovator membership with five trials per year runs at €50,000 annually. "€10,000 to run a trial democratizes cannabis research. But this is not about price. It is about visibility and market exposure for the participating companies and connecting directly with their potential clients, stakeholders and decision makers.
Innexo launches the API officially in January 2026, and has currently a limited number of participation slots open in every tier. Slots will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
In total, the API will collectively run 60 to 100 trials and demonstrations over the course of the next two years, one of the largest research and demonstration trial bursts so far. The first 'new' Acceleration Day will be held at the end of February 2026. On October 3rd (this year), Innexo will host its final Acceleration Day in the current format. On this final AD in the old format, the supporting partners for the API 2026-2027 will be announced.
