Dutch cannabis shops, better known as coffeeshops, that have been taking part in the Dutch Closed Coffeeshop Chain Experiment were allowed to keep selling illegal hashish until September 1, since the legally produced product wasn't good enough to be sold for consumption yet. As of Monday September 1st, however, they have been required to buy their hash exclusively from the ten licensed growers participating in the trial.
Experts fear that the much-loved Moroccan hash will now end up circulating mainly through the illegal market, according to NRC (link in Dutch).
