NL: Court yet to rule on cannabis grower's odor issues

The Rotterdam court needs more time before reaching a verdict in the case concerning nuisance caused by the state-licensed cannabis grower in Hellevoetsluis. For now, this means residents will continue to deal with the smell of cannabis while Kwekerij CanAdelaar will not face fines, according to Dutch newspaper AD.

"The judge requires more time," a court spokesperson explained to the paper, adding that a final ruling is expected either at the end of this week or the beginning of next.

Previously, the court had set a strict deadline for CanAdelaar: by Thursday, September 4 at midnight, the odor problem had to be resolved. If not, fines starting at half a million euros and potentially rising to 2 million euros would be imposed.

An advisory report estimated that the company would need to invest around 35 million euros in "possible solutions" to fully eliminate the odor nuisance.
