US (NJ): Application made for nearly 250,000 square foot grow facility

A farm Gloucester County would switch to growing marijuana with a 246,785-square-foot complex and become one of New Jersey's largest growing operations. The application for the proposed cannabis cultivation facility goes before the Elk Township's combined Planning and Zoning Board at a meeting Wednesday.

The 80-acre farm property at 730 Buck Road would feature three sealed greenhouse structures with air-circulation and odor-mitigation equipment, according to the Country Roads Realty site plan applications on the township website.

Two buildings would measure 81,792 square feet each, while the third would span 64,141 square feet, according to the applications. The proposal includes repurposing existing structures on the property, which previously operated as Meadow Muffin Farm.

A 2,400-square-foot metal garage would be converted into an auxiliary drying building, and a 1,750-square-foot single-family residence would become administrative office space.
