A new cannabinoid care platform aims to address a growing healthcare paradox: millions of Americans are using medical cannabis for symptom relief, yet most lack access to clinical guidance on safe and effective use.
Boston-based EO Care has launched a free digital health platform designed to provide personalised cannabinoid recommendations to older adults and cancer patients. The move comes as adoption rates climb, with 21% of Americans over 50 and up to 40% of cancer patients now using cannabis regularly for symptom management, while clinical oversight remains scarce.
The numbers reveal a significant mismatch between usage and medical support. According to data cited by the company, 17% of primary care patients use cannabis regularly for symptom management purposes. Yet the healthcare system has been slow to provide structured guidance, leaving patients to navigate product selection, dosing, and potential drug interactions largely on their own.
"For many older adults and people living with chronic conditions, medical cannabinoids offer meaningful symptom management and hope for a better quality of life," said Sean Collins, CEO and co-founder of EO. "Clinically appropriate, personalised guidance and purpose-designed products are fundamental drivers of safe, effective cannabinoid use."
